Types of GST Amendments

Basically, there are three different kinds of amendments that can be made, including:

  1. Modifications to Core Fields: Modifications to Core Fields usually entail altering your company’s legal name, primary business address, and any additional locations. Basically, you have to wait 15 days to receive approval from the relevant office if you want to make changes to the core fields.
  1. Modifications to Non-Core Fields: Certain fields, like those pertaining to authorized signatories, bank accounts, and stakeholder information like partners or promoters, can be updated without obtaining approval from the relevant office. Modifications are simple to make in the online mode.
  1. Modification of Email or Mobile Number: To make modifications to your email address or mobile number, you must first authenticate online using the common GST portal with a one-time password.

Submitting an amendment request using Form GST REG-14

You must fill out the GST REG-14 form for the appropriate amendment by following the instructions provided below, depending on the type of amendment you wish to make—core fields or non-core fields.

Procedures for modifying Core Fields:

Step 1: Go to the GST official website

Step 2: Enter your username, password, and captcha to log in.

Step 3: Click on the “Amendment of Registration Core Fields” link after selecting “Services” > “Registration.”

Step 4: After making changes to the mandatory fields, select the Verification Box.

Step 5: Once the “Amendment Of Registration Core Fields” fields have been successfully modified, submit the application using the Electronic Verification Code (EVC) or Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).

Within the next fifteen minutes, an acknowledgment message is automatically sent to your registered email address and mobile number after you successfully complete the online GST registration process.

When is the GST REG-14 Form Necessary?

The situations listed below indicate when Form GST REG-14 is necessary:

If you wish to change the name that your company has changed accidentally.

when it’s time to relocate your additional place of employment.

If any changes or additions to your stakeholders are required.

if you wish to relocate your primary place of business.

If the home address or date of birth needs to be updated, or if your shop and establishment license has expired and you need to add a new one.
